SUMMARY:Ice Box Amazing Race
DESCRIPTION:#GENERAL\nThis pinball tournament consists of a target matchplay qualifier\, followed by an Amazing Race playoffs. With 48 or more players\, the expected TGP is 100%.\nStart time is 2pm. Sign-ups begin at 1:15pm. The buy-in is $5. The IFPA fees will be paid by the Ice Box. All entry fees will be paid out as cash prizes.\nPlayer cap is 80.\n#QUALIFYING\nThe qualifying portion of the tournament will use target matchplay with a target of 24. Each game will score 7 / 5 / 3 / 1 for 4-player games or 7 / 4 / 1 for 3-player games. The target matchplay will consist of at most 6 rounds.\nThe number of players advancing to the playoffs will be the largest even number which is not greater than half of the total number of players. For example\, if the number of players is between 44 and 47\, then the number advancing will be 22. If the number of players is between 48 and 51\, then 24 would advance.\nThe maximum number which may advance is 32\, even if the field has more than 65 players.\nThe top qualifiers may receive byes into the semi-final round. The number of byes will be equal to the number of players who advance to the final minus 24. For example\, if 32 players advance\, then 8 players (32 – 24) will receive a bye. If 24 or fewer players advance\, then no players will receive a bye.\n#byes = #advancing – 24\nIf two or more players reach or exceed the target score during the same round\, then the player with the higher total score will receive the higher seed. If two or more players reach or exceed the target score in the same round with the same score\, then those players are tied.\nAny ties for one or more of the bye positions will be broken immediately as soon as those players reach or exceed the target score. The tied players will play a complete tiebreaker game on a randomly selected machine from among those not currently in use by the tournament.\nFor seeding purposes\, any ties among potential qualifiers who did not play in a tiebreaker will be determined by strength-of-schedule as calculated by matchplay.events.\n#SEMI-FINALS\nSemi-finals will use the Amazing Race format. In the semi-finals\, qualifiers will be split into two separate amazing races\, proceeding simultaneously. Each group will play on a separate bank of machines.\nMembership of each group will be determined based on seeding from the qualifying portion of the tournament. Each of the two races will have exactly half of the qualifiers.\nIn a semi-final with N players\, the first group will contain the #1 seed and N seed. The second group receives the #2 seed and (N – 1) seed. Then\, the first group receives\n#3 seed and (N – 2) seed\, and so on.\nIn the order determined by the seeds from qualifying\, players will choose their initial position within their assigned queue.\nFor each group\, the bottom seed receiving a bye will skip playing the first game in the bank. The next seed with a bye will skip the first and second games in the bank\, and so on. When a player with a bye joins the queue for their first machine\, they will choose their position within the queue.\nThe two semi-final races will continue until each queue has only 4 players remaining.\n#FINALS\nThe remaining players from the two queues will be combined into a single queue of 8 players.\nIn an order determined by qualifying seed\, finalists will choose their initial position within the queue.\nThe bank of machines for the final will feature 3 machines from each of the initial arena banks.\nA 7th machine not from either initial bank will be added as the final machine in the bank. This machine will be chosen randomly prior to the start of the qualifying round.\nThe race continues until only a single player remains.\n#AMAZING RACE FORMAT\nGames will be played in a predetermined order. All players will play single player games on the same machines and the player with the lowest score for each machine is knocked out of the tournament. As soon as the current low score for a machine is exceeded\, the current player should stop playing and plunge any remaining balls. That player should then advance to the end of the queue of the next machine in the sequence. If a player creates a new low score for a machine\, then the previous holder of the low score advances to the queue of the next machine. Multiple machines should be played simultaneously to the extent that it is possible.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/963716818008025

SUMMARY:Northwest Pinball Championships Pre-Tournament
DESCRIPTION:This tournament is a lead up to the 2023 NW Pinball Championships which happens on September 8-10 at the Lynnwood Bowl & Skate. This is mostly a sold out event but you can still win entries at the pre-tournaments!  https://www.nwpinballchamps.com/ \nEach pre-tournament will have a guaranteed minimum 8 free entry cards (6 for the Open\, 1 for Women and 1 for High stake event). Over all for the different tournaments\, that is a total of over 64 cards (minimum guaranteed) for the series (>$1\,400 of free entries awarded)! Over $2\,000 with cash\, raffle and swag prizes. \nEach tournament has the following guaranteed cash and free card entries payout for top 4\, 1st 2 Open entry card & $20\, 2nd 2 Open entry card & $15\, 3rd 1 Open entry card & $10 & 4th 1 entry card & $5. For every 5 additional players starting from 35 players\, 1 Open entry card will be added to next finisher.\nALSO\, for each tournament\, the top WOMEN will win a Women tournament entry card and the top ROOKIE (above IFPA 1\,000 rank on day of event) will win a High stake card. Only 1 card for each of these top results can be awarded by players.\nMore details: http://tinyurl.com/nwpc2023\nLocation: 8-Bit Arcade\nEntry Fee $10 per player.\nPingolf:\n• Two players tee-off at a time\, but still play as one-player games. Players will be able to reserve a tee-off time starting a week before the event.\n• Every machine will be set to 5-ball play\, and will list a target score. Reach the target score in 1 ball for a hole in one. Reach it in 2 balls\, then get a score of 2 strokes\, and so on. If the target score is not reached after 5 balls\, then earn a stroke score of 6 to 7\, depending on how close to the target score reached. The score ranges (0-50% and 50-100% of score) will be shown on a note on the backglass.\n• When a player reaches their target score or their game ends\, they should raise their hand to call over the scorekeeper to verify and record the score.\n• Extra balls can be played\, and counts as an extension of the current ball being played. Thus if a player earns an extra ball on ball 2\, and during that ball 2 they reach the target\, they get a score of 2.\n• When a target score is reached\, the player stops playing and informs the scorekeeper of the number of strokes it took them. All subsequent balls for that player will be plunged.\n• Scores on each machine will be tabulated. The players are ranked from lowest to highest score\, with lowest score being declared winner at the end of the event.\n• TOP 16 FINALS at 6 PM\, players will play in a four-player seven-strike progressive-strike tournament\, using Pingolf scoring.\n• During this round\, players are assigned to a machine (hole). Scoring is the same as during qualifying round. The winner of the game gets no strikes. The loser of the game two strikes. 2nd and 3rd in a 4-player game\, or just 2nd in a 3-player game\, will get one strike. In case multiple players are tied for number of strokes on a hole\, the tied players only move on to the next hole and play a 3-ball game. If a player doesn’t reach target score\, they still get a score of 6 through 7. If there is still a tie\, tied players move to next game\, and begin the hole-in-one challenge: If one of players gets a hole-in-one and other player(s) doesn’t\, that player wins. If no player gets a hole in one\, highest score wins. If both players get hole in one\, they move on to next machine and repeat this hole-in-one challenge until someone does not get a hole-in-one.\nPlayers must show up to at least 15 minutes before their scheduled tee-off time and pay their $10 entry fee\, or may lose their reserved tee-off time to someone on the Standby list. Registration closes once all tee-off times are filled. Players can get onto a standby list if available to play and there is a no-show.\nThe tee time registration is open:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eHwFeBMAhEBeZFHKDCn6533fhjAhynve/edit#gid=821638995\nFacebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1457445461460849
